Member Nation or IBT?
Nov 24, 07, 16:13
One of the questions often asked to the IFBA Directive Committee is "What do we gain from being a member of the IFBA as a group opposed to the proposed individual membership?"

In fact this is very easy to answer:
If the sport of boomerangs in your country has an official national association that is legal after the laws of your country, the IFBA would love to accept you as a Member Nation. But if you have no official national association that is legal after the laws of your country - or you even have no (national) association at all - we fear the IFBA can't accept you as a Member Nation. But we really want you personally as part of the IFBA!

What we could offer you is the membership in the International Boomerang Team (IBT). This is not the International Boomerang Team you know from the World Boomerang Championships. The IBT is a collection of individuals from countries without a national boomerang association who still want to be part of the international boomerang family.

In fact the IBT is a something like an IFBA membership for small organisations or individuals. Smaller countries can adhere to the IFBA without the need to have the same amount of documentation. You could call it a limited membership with a slightly reduced amount of rights. The members of International Boomerang Team have to pay an annual fee of 5 euro and have the right to vote inside the IBT together with other people - remember that IBT has one vote in general meeting of IFBA.

The IFBA doesn't want to exclude anybody, in fact:
- the WBTC is open to the throwers of Member and NonMember countries,
- the individual WBC is open to the throwers of Member and NonMember countries,
- the General meeting is open to people of Member and NonMember countries (of course with different right to vote),
- the decision regarding EBC are given between Member and NonMember of European countries,
- the NonMember page is open to anyone would write on it

We hope to be able to welcome you in the IBT soon. If you have questions, please contact us.

1. Lausanne prepared a very fine pdf document with all needed information.
2. Bordeaux has 40 helpers and wanted to have the EBC 2009 in August near a University (field and accomodation).
3. Kopenhagen wanted to have a EBC...
